August Wahnsinger
Author: The Unfortunate Case of the Stabbed-Up Elf

August Wahnsinger lives in a secure compound in the Northern Canadian Rockies. He is assaulted by messages from other dimensions that force him to write these visions into some sort of cohesive narrative. Because of his contact with other dimensions, he was appointed the chair of the Inter-Dimensional Relations Committee for the Inter-National Society for Exploring Nature, Science and the Ésoteric (INSENSÉ). When he's not vivisecting backpackers or advising various megalomaniacs on the construction of their doomsday devices, he can be found modeling for Brit Frady-Williams of Berít New York (beritnewyork.com) or projecting his strange thoughts onto the ætherwebs at bootsandbibles.com/august_wahnsinger. He is assisted in his literary endeavours by one Austin Williams of Brooklyn, NY, an NYU graduate student and fellow penguin aficionado.

harvey

C.B. Harvey
Author: Convergence Culture

C.B. Harvey pursues a living in Old London Town as a writer and academic.  His gothic short story The Stinker won the inaugural SFX Pulp Idol award in 2006.  Since then he’s worked on several projects for the British-based company Big Finish, including BBC-licensed Doctor Who short stories and, most recently, the second episode in the new Highlander audio series produced by Big Finish under license from MGM.  His academic writing includes the sole-authored book Grand Theft Auto:  Motion-Emotion (Ludologica 2005), a chapter on Battlestar Galactica and a contribution to the academic anthology Mythological Approaches to Doctor Who (Kitsune forthcoming).  His non-fiction and journalism includes pieces for The Guardian, Edge, Develop, ScriptWriter and RetroGamer and he’s a contributor to a forthcoming collection of opinion-pieces entitled Shouting at the Telly (Faber and Faber).  He teaches creative writing at London South Bank University and – having recovered from the trauma of successfully completing his doctorate – is now writing a fantasy novel.

jillian
Jillian Venters
Author: Letters Between Young Ladies Of Fashionable Society, And The Alarming Events That Unfold Within, Pt.2

Also penned Letters Between Young Ladies Of Fashionable Society, And The Alarming Events That Unfold Within, Pt. 1 which appeared in Steampunk Tales: Issue #2

Jillian Venters was a fairly spooky and morbid child. When she discovered the existence of the whole Gothic sub-culture, she clapped her hands with glee and fell upon it like a baby bat upon a box of Count Chocula cereal. Since then, the Lady of the Manners has spent a not inconsiderable amount of time trying to gently persuade others in her chosen subculture that being a polite Goth is much, much more subversive than just wearing T-shirts with "edgy" sayings on them. She lives in Seattle.

arkwright

V.I.C. 443701 Arkwright (M.V.S.S.)
Author: Dark Skies and Cruel Seas

Also penned Flight of the Swallow, which appeared in Steampunk Tales: Issue #2

Arkwright describes himself as a man born out of his proper time. Growing up in the 1970s and '80s, he developed a far greater bond with the past than the present; influenced by writers such as H.G. Wells and Nigel Kneale, he developed a distinctly dystopian view of the future. For a man living in the past, archaeology was a natural career choice and this lead him on adventures around the world before harsh economic realities determined that he return home and “get a real job.” During the last 15 years he has written and occasionally published numerous works on archaeology and social history. His specialty has always been the post-medieval period, including the Industrial Revolution and the era known as the Early Modern. Arkwright’s introduction to steampunk occurred at university; and for a long time, his interest in the genre expressed itself as an eclectic collection of science fiction films, books and illustrations. In 2008, Arkwright made the decision to fulfill a lifelong dream to become a writer and filmmaker, at the same time adopting his current pen name which immerses him in the overarching background to his writing. Since then, the dream has become more of a reality, and as well as writing short stories, he is working on a number of steampunk short films and is scripting a steampunk radio play. In 2009, Arkwright became a member of the highly exclusive Victorian Steampunk Society.
