Letters Between Young Ladies Of Fashionable Society, And The Alarming Events That Unfold Within -- Part Four By Jillian Venters

Jillian Venters was a fairly spooky and morbid child. When she discovered the existence of the hole Gothic sub-culture, she clapped her hands with glee and fell upon it like a baby bat upon a box of Count Chocula cereal. Since then, the Lady of the Manners has spent a not inconsiderable amount of time trying to gently persuade others in her chosen subculture that being a polite Goth is much, much more subversive than just wearing T-shirts with "edgy" sayings on them. She lives in Seattle.

cindy Some Unforeseen Event, chapter 2 by Cindy MacLeod

Cindy MacLeod hails from the historically-saturated Mount Vernon, Virginia area, attended the College of William and Mary, and is a Revolutionary War reenactor. Beyond that, any similarities to her protagonist, Barbara Rawlings, cease. She enjoys gaming, costuming, reading and general geekery, and is the current Alternate History fan track director at Dragon*Con, the multi-faceted sci-fi/media convention.

Tales from a Millwall Tattoo Parlour, part 2 by Austin WIlliams

Austin H. Williams is a graduate student at New York University, where he studies the effluvia of the Ancient Near East. Beside his graduate studies, Mr. Williams also explores fantastic fiction, inner-city decay, alternative subcultures, Japanese tattoos, and anachronistic technology. His wife runs Berít New York, NYC’s premiere designer of neo-vintage clothing. Mr. Williams also works with August Wahnsinger (published in Issue #3), lecturing on steampunk and fiction related matters. To be clear, Mr. Williams is very much in touch with English football culture, however he is not a Millwall F.C. supporter.

Kay The Trials of Professor Sinister; Extracts from the Traveling Diary of Matalaine Morningside, Part 4 by Larry C. Kay

When he’s not distracted with cleaning the soot from his goggles, or fixing his antiquated velocipede, Larry Kay can be found swatting Florida’s finest mosquitoes, guzzling Turkish java and spending entirely too much time banging on his brass stroke-board.

A Visit from Dorian the Anarchist, part 1 by Arkwright

Arkwright describes himself as a man born out of his proper time. Growing up in the 1970s and '80s, he developed a far greater bond with the past than the present; influenced by writers such as H.G. Wells and Nigel Kneale, he developed a distinctly dystopian view of the future. For a man living in the past, archaeology was a natural career choice and this lead him on adventures around the world before harsh economic realities determined that he return home and “get a real job.” During the last 15 years he has written and occasionally published numerous works on archaeology and social history. His specialty has always been the post-medieval period, including the Industrial Revolution and the era known as the Early Modern. Arkwright’s introduction to steampunk occurred at university; and for a long time, his interest in the genre expressed itself as an eclectic collection of science fiction films, books and illustrations. In 2008, Arkwright made the decision to fulfill a lifelong dream to become a writer and filmmaker, at the same time adopting his current pen name which immerses him in the overarching background to his writing. Since then, the dream has become more of a reality, and as well as writing short stories, he is working on a number of steampunk short films and is scripting a steampunk radio play. In 2009, Arkwright became a member of the highly exclusive Victorian Steampunk Society.

Evelyn Kriete has worked in marketing, advertising and promotions since 1996. Although she has been instrumental in the promotion of steampunk, it is only one portion of her portfolio; she presently works for Deathrock Magazine and Weird Tales, as well as being a founding member of Gilded Age Records where she is responsible for marketing, advertising and promotions.
